William L. Glavich

January 16, 1921

William L. Glavich, 91, of Vandling, died Sunday afternoon at home. He was the husband of the late Margaret Baileys who died in 1991.

Born January 16, 1921 at the family homestead in Vandling, he was the son of the late Joseph and Christina Kristof Glavich. Bill was a graduate of Vandling High School and a corporal in the Army Air Corp. during WWII, serving stateside as a B-52 propeller mechanic and instructor. He was employed by United Shoe Machinery Corporation as a shoe machine mechanic and later retired from NEP Telephone Company. He was a member of the Forest City American Legion. He served as a councilman and as secretary of Vandling Borough for over 20 years. He enjoyed swimming at Elk Lake and Lake Lorraine, hunting, fishing, and after retirement, doing yard work for others. He could repair all types of small engines. He loved to rock and read to his grandchildren, who called him, "Pop."

He is survived by a son William M. Glavich, Jefferson Twp and fiancé©, Christine Byrd, and a daughter Jean and husband Dr. Henry Nebzydoski, Pleasant Mount; a brother Fredrick Glavich, Vandling, grandchildren, Mark and wife Audrey Nebzydoski, Dr. Beth Spinelli and husband Brian, Daniel, Dr. Thomas, Andrew, Kathryn, and Christopher Nebzydoski, Michael Glavich and fiancé© Jean Taylor, Matthew Glavich and fiancé© Melissa Felter, great grandchildren, Jacob, Katie, Laura, Mark, Jonathan, Maria, Sarah, and Mitchell; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a sister Christina Menart; brothers, Joseph, John, and Albert Glavich; and grandchildren, Dr. David Nebzydoski and Amy Nebzydoski.

Funeral will be Wednesday at 9:30 am from the Kevin M. Lesjack Funeral Home, 513 Main Street, Forest City, with Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in St. Joseph's Church, Forest City. Interment St. Joseph's Cemetery, Forest City. Viewing Tuesday from 5-8 pm.
