William S. Feddock, 89, of Forest City, died Thursday morning in a fire at his home. His wife Alice Ross Feddock died in 1997.
Born January 11, 1922, in Forest City, he was the son of the late William and Blanche Julius Feddock. He was a member of St. Agnes Church and prior to retirement he worked as an Industrial Engineer for Proctor and Gamble, Mehoopany. Bill was a veteran of WWII and a member of the F.C. American Legion Post 524, where he was past Captain. He was the chief prize-gatherer for the annual Rizner Children's Fishing Derby and a member of the Browndale Sportsman Club. He was a past District Deputy of the local Knights-of-Columbus and a charter member of the Board of Directors of Rail-Trail Council. His proudest achievements came as a writer for the Pennsylvania Outdoor Writers Assoc. where he achieved numerous awards and achievements including the prestigious Student Mentor Award and the 1993 Best Newspaper Column Award. His "Tales 'n Scales" column appeared each week in the Forest City News for over 25 years.
Every Saturday, accompanied by his daughter, Bill would attend a different church in the Scranton Diocese. He was on a pilgrimage that amounted to over 100 churches visited and always receiving a special blessing from the priest.
Bill was a loving father and grandfather who had a tremendous love for God and the outdoors. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by three daughters, Peggy Brager and husband Frank, Forest City, Alice Morton, Arizona, and Patricia Konzman and companion Ron Armstrong, Forest City; 4 grandchildren, Frank, Wes, Chris, and David; 3 great grandchildren, Kathy, Adam, and Maggie-Jean, several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother Tom and a sister Mary Alice Scalzo.
Funeral will be Wednesday at 9:30 am from the Kevin M. Lesjack Funeral Home, 513 Main Street, Forest City, with Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in Sacred Heart Church, Forest City. Interment in St. Agnes Cemetery, Forest City. Viewing Tuesday from 5-8 pm.
