William F. Emmons

William F. Emmons, 80, of Herrick Center, died Friday evening at home. His wife is the late Sallie Russell Emmons who died in 2001.

Born September 12, 1930, son of the late John and Anna Maslar Emmons. He was a graduate of Herrick Center School and valedictorian of his class. He was of Catholic faith and prior to retirement he worked construction for Operating Engineers for 34 years. He was also a former Susquehanna County Game Commission Official. Bill belonged to the Freedom Lodge 328, Thompson and was a Mason for over 50 years. He loved hunting and fishing and was an avid bird watcher. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Surviving are five daughters, Linda and husband Pat Gormley, Clayton, NJ; Vickie Gregg, Olyphant; Bonnie and husband Gene Corey, Moscow; Jill and husband Joseph Baron, Forest City; and Wendy Emmons, Herrick Center; a son, William R. Emmons and wife Angie, ND, a daughter in law Marge Lockett, Herrick Center; a brother Eugene Emmons, Carbondale; 4 sisters Arlene Rasmussen, Herrick Center; Martha and husband Louis Kotar, Vandling; Lorraine Thompson, Binghamton; and Eunice and husband Joseph Lozinak, Forest City; 13 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a son Danny Lockett, a brother George Emmons, and a nephew Ricky Emmons.

Funeral will be Wednesday with a 10:30 am blessing service in the Kevin M. Lesjack Funeral Home, 513 Main Street, Forest City. Interment in Myers Cemetery, Herrick Center.

Viewing Tuesday from 5-8 pm.
