Willa Mae (Gibson) Mitzel

Willa Mae Mitzel (Gibson), 82, of Union Dale, PA, passed away peacefully at her home Thursday, August 17, 2023, after a recent illness.

Willa was born May 15, 1941, in Union Dale, PA, to the late Willard and Beulah (Deming) Gibson.

Willa was a graduate of Hahnemann Nursing School in Scranton, PA, and served as a Registered Nurse for over 60 years. She was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Carbondale and enjoyed volunteering at the church and around Union Dale.

She is survived by her loving partner Keith Foster of Union Dale; three children, Robert (Barbara) Yarosh of Harrisburg, PA, Willard (Sandra) Yarosh of Buffalo Junction, VA, and Michelle (James) Gardner of Colorado Springs, CO; six grandchildren who she adored; Robert Yarosh, Madison Yarosh, Sarah Yarosh, Joseph Yarosh, Camille Gardner, and Zachary Gardner; and great-granddaughter Kyla Louis.

She was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Melissa Yarosh.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 21, 2023 at 11:30am at the First Presbyterian Church of Carbondale, 76 Salem Ave, Carbondale, PA 18407. Visitation will be from 10 to 11:30am in the church. Interment in Union Dale Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to the First Presbyterian Church of Carbondale.
