Vickie Stefko Obituary

Victoria “Vickie” Stefko, 100, of Browndale, passed away peacefully with her daughter, Karen, by her side on Wednesday at the Forest City Nursing and Rehab Center. She was the widow of the late Nicholas Stefko.

Born February 12, 1924 in Browndale, Vickie was the daughter of the late Anton and Josephine Kadunc Kos. She was a member of Ascension Parish, the Slovenian Heritage Club, and volunteered with the Red Cross Bloodmobile. She was employed with Kameen/Village Hardware in Forest City for many years and enjoyed going to work everyday. She was blessed with loving family, friends, and neighbors who loved her dearly through the years.

She is survived by her daughter Karen Stefko, NY; brother-in-law, Paul Payne; and many nieces & nephews who always kept in touch with their Aunt Vickie.

Also preceded in death by brother- Anthony Kos, sisters- Anne Payne, Josephine Orasin, Mary O'Pecko, nephews- Michael Orasin and John O'Pecko and niece- Sharon O'Pecko.

The family would like to thank Sharon Savakinas and her staff at Carbondale Family Health Center, a thank you to Wayne Memorial Hospital and lastly the Forest City Nursing & Rehab Center for the phenomenal care given to Vickie.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday at 10:00am in St. Joseph's Church, 739 Delaware Street, Forest City. Friends may call Tuesday 9:00am until Mass time at the church. Interment in St. Agnes Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to the Kevin M. Lesjack Funeral Home, 513 Main St., Forest City.

In lieu of flowers, it is asked that donations be made to a charity in need.
