Veronica "Ronnie" Striefsky

Veronica "Ronnie" Striefsky, 80, of Forest City, died Monday morning at home. Her husband Edmund Striefsky died in 1997.

Born May 16, 1931 in Carbondale, she was the daughter of the late Martin and Frances Rozina Lesjak Novak. She was a member of the Ascension Parish, Forest City and a graduate of Forest City High School. Ronnie devoted her many years to helping others at the senior center in Forest City, always willing to lend a helping hand to anybody that asked. She enjoyed golf, bowling, and doll collecting. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. She was active with Miss Poppy, 8th grade medal awards and cub scouts. Veronica was a loving mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Her granddaughter Sophia and grandson Tyler wrote; "When I grow up and have children I will tell them all about Grandma and say that she was such a great person", "I will remember her forever", "You are the best in the world, I love you so much."

She is survived by her companion Tom McKenna, Forest City; three sons, Edmund and wife Barbara Striefsky, Landsdale, Andy and wife Kim Striefsky, Forest City, and Jim and wife Nell Striefsky, Clifford Twp.; 4 grand children Jon, Michelle, Tyler, and Sophia, several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by brothers, Gus, Joe, John, Bill, and Louis Lesjack, and sisters Mary Link and Frances DeGonzague.

Funeral will be Thursday at 9:30 am from the Kevin M. Lesjack Funeral Home, 513 Main Street, Forest City, with Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in Sacred Heart Church, Forest City. Interment in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Forest City. Viewing Wednesday from 5 - 8 pm.
