Thomas T. Susco

Thomas Theodore Susco, 94, died Friday, January 13, 2023 at the Forest City Nursing Center. His wife of nearly 74 years is the former Agnes Bezek.

Born in March 23, 1928 in Forest City, son of the late Frank Susco and Catherine(Bochniak)Susco, he was a man of strong faith and a life long member of St John’s Byzantine Catholic Church, Forest City, where he served as a trustee, usher and enjoyed working at church activities for many years. Upon graduating in 1946 from Forest City High School, he worked for many years in the local garment industry, then at the Big Chief market and finally as custodian for the local catholic churches. Tom was known for his unlimited energy and always could be seen working in the yard. But most importantly, Tom was always looking for ways to help others, especially in his volunteer work. Besides assisting at St John’s, Tom was a Fourth Degree Knight and was the last surviving charter member of the Forest City Knights of Columbus Council #3506 . He was so proud of the fact that he was the first and only Financial Secretary since its founding 71 years ago and he received numerous recognitions for his years of service to the K of C. In addition, Tom was elected to the Forest City School Board, serving 12 years, 4 of those as school Board President.

A man of great faith, a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Tom will be remembered for his humility, honesty and strong work ethic.

In addition to his wife, Tom is survived by his four sons, Thomas(Nancy), Reston, VA; Mark(Barbara), Mt Lebanon, PA ; Dr. David, Durham, NC; and Joel(Dr. Michelle), Clifton, VA; his 9 grandchildren Dr. Tom, Dr. Ben(Dr Kate); Dr Lauren, Jennifer(Joe); Douglas(Liz); Scott; Catey(Paul), Chris and Caroline; 7 great-grandchildren, Nathan, Matthew, Victoria, Grant, Diana, Lillian and Abigail; two sisters-in-law, Mildred R. Amadio and Alice Susco and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was also preceded in death by his grandson, Timothy, his sister, Marion and brother Francis.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, January 21, 2023 at 11:00 am from St John’s Byzantine Catholic Church, Susquehanna St, Forest City, Interment, Sacred Heart Cemetery, Forest City. Arrangements are entrusted to the Kevin M. Lesjack Funeral Home, 513 Main Street, Forest City.
