Thomas M. Lahoda Obituary

Thomas M. Lahoda, 91, of Boynton Beach, FL and formerly of Thompson, passed away peacefully on October 30, 2025. His wife Barbara Lahoda died in 2022.

Born on December 24, 1933, he was the son of the late Jacob and Kathryn Lahoda. Thomas grew up on the family farm in Thompson during the depression. There were challenging times for sure, but the family survived with many fond memories of working on the farm, bringing in hay, milking the cows, swimming, fishing, and having family picnics. Upon graduating from Northern Wayne High School, Class of 1952, Thomas was a dedicated employee with an extremely hard work ethic ending with more than 36 years of service to Ford Motor Company. He was an ardent supporter for the working man and fully supported the United Auto Workers (UAW) Union, specifically the local 906 based out of Mahwah, New Jersey for their commitment to job security, faster pay progression, training, health coverage, and retirement benefits.

Thomas was a committed family man without exception, and he did whatever was needed to provide and protect his family over the years, sometimes holding multiple jobs to do so. This included working at a local ski area so his children can learn to ski, driving a school bus for team sporting events and working on cars as a mechanic and body repair specialist out of his home. Thomas found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He loved dancing, listening to polka music, playing harmonica, sharing Sunday family dinners, collecting, and restoring classic cars, hunting, visiting the Jersey Shore, attending high school basketball games, gathering with neighbors, and taking part in community events throughout the years.

Faith, Religion, and the Catholic Church were especially important to Thomas and was an active member and supporter of both St. Columba R.C. Church – Chester, NY and St. Thomas More Catholic Church – Boynton Beach, FL.

He is survived by his two sons, Thomas H. (Annette) Lahoda of Trophy Club, TX, and Bart G. (Sandra) Lahoda of Colleyville, TX; his daughter, Laura Lahoda of Boynton Beach, FL; grandchildren Kendall and Madeline, Michelle and Anthony, Michael and Courtney; as well as several cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his 5 brothers Henry, William, Nicholas, Steve, Joseph and 3 sisters Annie Bilak, Nancy Beautz and Helen Stack.

A graveside service was held on May 16, 2026, at St. Mary’s Russian Cemetery, Thompson. Local arrangements were entrusted to Kevin M. Lesjack Funeral Home, 513 Main Street, Forest City.
