Sr. Kubus, George W.

George W. Kubus, Sr., 81, of Pleasant Mount, died Tuesday afternoon at Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Dunmore. His wife of 59 years is the former Regina Trusky. They were married on September 22, 1956.

Born May 31, 1934 in Uniondale, he is the son of the late Walter and Matilda "Eva" Gordon Kubus. He was an Army veteran, serving in Germany and prior to retirement he worked in construction. George was an avid hunter and fisherman and he also enjoyed flower gardening. His greatest joys were spending time with his grandchildren.

Also surviving are four children, Kathy Stanziale and husband Paul, Kingston; Gail Marzolino, Dunmore; George Kubus and wife Patricia, Mayfield; Georgette Coolican, Pleasant Mount; four grand daughters, Meghan, Stephanie, Ali, and Grace; a grandson Joshua; 2 great grandsons, James and Asher, several nieces and nephews.

Also preceded in death by two brothers, Frank and Bill and two sisters, Romayne Piwowarczyk and Vickie Fortuner; and a grand daughter Amanda.

Cremation is through the Kevin M. Lesjack Funeral Home, 513 Main Street, Forest City. Memorial service is private.
