Gerard P. Hooten, Sr., 53 of Browndale died Sunday morning at Mid Valley Hospital. His wife is April McCroy Hooten.
Born April 10, 1959, in New York City, he was the son of Lloyd and Allene Huntoon Hooten. He was educated in NYC schools and worked as a Certified Nurses Assistant at Gino Merli Veterans Center, Scranton. Early in life Gerard worked in the music industry, he played the guitar, and was a song writer. In 2005, he reached his calling in life as a Reverend in Creation and became very active in the Pro-Life movement, often be heard saying"Save the babies." He was an avid Yankees fan and a novice HAM radio operator. His grand children were his joy in life. He was loved and respected by his family and will be greatly missed.
Also surviving are a son Gerard Hooten and fiancé©e, Patricia Kenyon, Jessup; a daughter Tara Smith and fiancé©e Robert Kenyon, Masthope; and five grandchildren, Willow, Lylah, Samantha, Sara, and Noah.
Cremation is through the Kevin M. Lesjack Funeral Home, 513 Main Street, Forest City.
Visitation at the funeral home on Wednesday from 5-8pm.
