Sophie L. Risner

Sophie L. Risner, 100, formerly of Vandling, died Sunday morning at Founder's Pavilion, Corning, NY. Her husband is the late Anthony Risner.

Born March 23, 1912 in Forest City, she is the daughter of the late Frank and Margaret Puntar Pantzer. Sophie was a member of St. Joseph's Church, Forest City and prior to retirement she worked at area dress factories. She was a member of the Slovenian Heritage Club and the KSKJ Society. She enjoyed playing BINGO, dancing to polkas, and singing. She loved spending time with her family.

Surviving are 2 daughters, Mary Francis Glaize and husband Jack, Orlando, FL and Roseanne Tackett and husband John, Corning, NY; a sister Angeline M. Boulton, Binghamton, NY; grandchildren Michelle Spinner and husband Brent, Jennifer Heskestad and husband Paul, Sondra Tackett Gavaldon; great grandchildren Michael, Ayden, Olivia Rose, and Nora Sophia; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by siblings, Tony, Mary, Jack, Margaret, Frank, and Joseph.

Funeral will be Thursday from the Kevin M. Lesjack Funeral Home, 513 Main Street, Forest City, with Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 am in St. Joseph's Church, Forest City. Interment in St Joseph's Cemetery, Forest City. Viewing on Thursday 9-11 am.
