Sophie Malishewsky

Sophie Malishewsky, 81, of Simpson, died Thursday morning at Regional Hospital, Scranton. Her husband John Malishewsky died in 2000.

Born May 1, 1934, in Poland, she was the daughter of the late Theodore and Stanislawa Bartnicka Kit. She was a waitress prior to retirement. Sophie enjoyed dancing and loved being with her great granddaughter.

Surviving are a son Gary Malishewsky, Mt. Holly, NJ; a daughter Donna Rice and husband Jack, North Brunswick, NJ; 2 sisters Estele Zadzielski and Tessie Kit, grandchildren Kimberly Meheltz and husband Stan and Ian Rice and fiancee Dorothy Matthews; and a great granddaughter Sammie.

Preceded in death by 2 sisters Irene Kit and Lottie Diorio.

Memorial contributions can be made to Sophie's favorite charity Paralyzed Veterans of America.

Cremation is through the Kevin M. Lesjack Funeral Home, 513 Main Street, Forest City.
