Sophie Baron

Sophie Baron, 96, of Forest City died Saturday morning at the Forest City Nursing & Rehab Center.

Born April 1, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Andrew and Mary Bavitz Baron. Sophie was a member of Ascension Parish, Forest City and prior to retirement she worked for Westinghouse in Newark, NJ. She enjoyed traveling, visiting Spain and Poland. She liked to play cards and go to the casino. She also liked to cook and try new recipes. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

The family would like to thank her care giver Jean Scepita, and the staff at the Forest City Nursing & Rehab Center for their kindness and compassionate care.

Surviving is a sister, Mary Ann Anelli, North Carolina, a sister-in-law Pauline Baron, Clifford, and several nieces and nephews, including Joseph and Jill Baron, Forest City.

Preceded in death by brothers, Paul, Joseph, Adam, Charles, Michael, and John and a sister Eleanor.

Funeral will be Wednesday at 9:30 from the Kevin M. Lesjack Funeral Home, 513 Main Street, Forest City, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in St. Joseph's Church, Forest City. Interment St. James Cemetery, Pleasant Mount.

Viewing on Tuesday from 4-7 pm.
