Sonya “Nonie” Mullisky, 81, of Forest City, died Wednesday evening, February 26, 2020, at home. Her husband Thomas John Mullisky died April 15, 2002.
Born May 1, 1938 in Carbondale, she was the daughter of the late Ivan and Sarah Adams Barney. Prior to retirement Sonya worked in the optics division at Gentex Corporation. She was affectionately known as the “Pie Lady” and enjoyed making pies for everyone. Sonya liked country music, especially Waylon Jennings and Willie Nelson. Most of all, she loved watching her great grandchildren.
Surviving are two daughters Wendy Scarfo, Forest City; and Roxanne Kimmel, Forest City; a son Joseph Nogick, Jermyn; three grandchildren Kristian Short, Shannon Babcock, and Branden Kimmel; 6 great grandchildren Devyn, Kali, Macy, Larissa, Leah, and Ella; three sisters Barbara Lynady, Carbondale; Marbeth Tate, FL; and Patrice Cost, Hop Bottom; nieces and nephews.
Also preceded in death by a son Frankie; a daughter Jamie Ann; and siblings Gail Cain, Dianna Counterman, Kermit Barney,Gerald Barney, and Darryl Barney.
