Ruth Ann (Franceski) Slish

Ruth Ann Slish, 90, of Forest City, passed away Thursday, July 20, 2023, at Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Dunmore. She was the widow of Joseph Slish, who died in 1997 and was married for 39 years.

Born March 15, 1933 in Forest City, she was the daughter of the late Rosar and Pauline (Cos) Franceski. Ruth Ann graduated from Forest City High School in 1951 and was employed at Daystrom. In 1971, she took a job as a cafeteria worker at Forest City Regional School District, where she stayed until retirement in 1998.

Ruth Ann volunteered her time, as a member of the St. Agnes Parish Altar and Rosary Society, now Ascension Parish, the Girl Scouts’ cookie drives, and the candy sale for the Forest City Little League. She loved her home, and keeping it in order and immaculate.

Ruth Ann is survived by her children, Joseph, and wife Catherine of Olyphant, and her daughter Judy, with whom she lived, and was taken care of with the utmost of love. Also surviving are her dedicated nieces and nephews who would be in touch with her weekly, and her caregiver for the past year and a half, Kathy Pavlovich.

The lights of her life however were her grandchildren, Joseph and Owen Slish, whom she adored and would light up whenever they visited or a story was shared about them.

Ruth Ann was preceded in death by her brothers and spouses; Russell and Angelina, Robert and Mary , Arthur and Dorothy, Donald and Katherine and sisters Alice Susco and John, and Sylvia Falvo and Carmine. She was also preceded in death by nieces Paula Susco, Mary Elizabeth Squeglia, and nephews Robert Franceski, Carmie Falvo and Carl Robert Franceski.

The funeral will be Tuesday with Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in St. Joseph’s Church, 741 Delaware St., Forest City. Interment will follow in St. Agnes Cemetery. There will be a visitation on Monday from 4 to 7 PM at the Kevin M. Lesjack Funeral Home, 513 Main St., Forest City, PA.
