Robert J. Non

Robert “Bob” Non, 86, of Pleasant Mount died Thursday at Wayne Memorial Hospital, Honesdale. His wife is the former Nancy Slavinskas. They would have celebrated their 64th anniversary on November 12th.

Born July 19, 1937 in Newark, NJ, he was the son of the late Paul and Mary Zimmerman Non, Sr. Bob was a graduate of Pleasant Mount High School and a member of St. Katharine Drexell Parish. He has been a dairy farmer since the age of 15. Bob enjoyed singing. He sang for the North East Barber Shop, and the church choir. Attending Mass daily, Bob was a Lecter and maintenance man for St. James Church. He enjoyed farming, fishing and swimming, especially at the beach in Wildwood.

Also surviving are six children, Wayne(Antoinette) Morgan, Dalton; Bob(Susan) Non, Jr, Clifford Twp; Steve(Carolyn) Non, Pleasant Mount; Michael(Karen) Non, Pleasant Mount; Margie(Mike) Rocco, Fishkill, NY; and Karen Papocchia and fiance Gerald Wertz, Waymart; fifteen grandchildren, Kendra Murphy, Jodi Wilson, Angela Sofjan, Frank, Dominic and Vinnie Rocco, Kirsten Madden, Bryce Papocchia, Jerrad, Jordan, Anya, Brandon, Brianna, Nicole and Jason Non.; and 12 great grandchildren; Sisters in law, Sister Mary Helen Slavinskas, IHM, Scranton and Catherine Best, Scranton.

He is preceded in death by two brothers Paul Non, Jr. and Dennis Non, and a sister-in-law Mary H. Non.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday May 29th at 11:00am in St. James Church, Pleasant Mount. Interment in St. James Cemetery. Viewing will be on Tuesday from 5 to 7pm in the Kevin M. Lesjack Funeral Home, 513 Main Street, Forest City.

Memorial contributions can be made in Bob’s name to St. Katharine Drexell Parish.
