Regina "Jean" Baranowski Statkun, 80, of Forest City, died Saturday morning at home. She was the widow of Aloysius Statkun who died in 2015.
Born July 1, 1935, in Forest City, daughter of the late Anthony and Mary Morowski Baranowski. She was a member of Ascension Parish, formerly Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Forest City. Before retirement she worked as a seamstress for several Forest City area dress factories. She enjoyed living in the country and helping her family at Panorama Golf Course. She was affectionately known as "Baba" to her grandchildren whom she was very proud of. She also liked watching the birds from her feeders. She loved to cook for her family, enjoyed reading and taking trips to the casinos. She was a loving woman, wife, mother, and grandmother and will be greatly missed by her friends and family.
Surviving are three children, Susan Statkun, Clifford Twp., Stephen Statkun and wife Kelley, Uniondale, Jennifer Vauter and husband Richard, Clifford Twp.; six grandchildren, Daniel, Benjamin, and Rachel Vauter and Dana, Emily, and Laura Statkun; two sisters, Elizabeth Pisarcik, Simpson and Dorothy Fives, Forest City; one brother Francis Baranowski, Forest City; nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by two sisters, Lottie Zielinski and Stella Baranowski, and a brother Joseph Baranowski.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday at 10 am in St. Joseph's Church, Hudson Street, Forest City. Interment in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Cremation is through the Kevin M. Lesjack Funeral Home, 513 Main Street, Forest City.
