Raymond "Ray" Femc Obituary

Raymond Femc of Browndale, two weeks shy of his 99th birthday, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, May 22, 2022. He was married for 63 years to the late Emma Marnick Femc.

He was born in Forest City on June 5, 1923, son of Anthony and Victoria Sapudar Femc. He was a graduate of Forest City High School, class of 1941 and a member of Ascension Parish, formerly St. Joseph's Church, Forest City. He was employed at FabWeld and Hendrick, before retiring from Gentex Corporation.

Ray was very proud of his Slovenian heritage. He was a member of the Slovenian Heritage Club and loved listening to Slovenian polkas and waltzes. He went on many bus trips and attended all the local polka dances. He also was a member of the Forest City Hometown Club, and served as the Club's president.

He served in World War II with the 11th Airborne Co. E. 187th Glider Infantry Regimen in New Guinea, Southern Philippines, and Luzon where he was the recipient of the Purple Heart.

Ray could always be found working in the yard. One of his favorite past times were tending to his shrubs and flowers. He told everyone that his secret to longevity is to keep moving. He was admired by many for his energy and stamina. He was also an animal lover who adored his 2 cats, Cali and Buster who never left his side.

He is survived by his daughters Diane, Forest City, Carol Carroll and husband Jay, Scott Twp; sisters, Sylvia Cobb, St. Petersburg, FL, Romayne Saflicki, Middletown, CT, and a brother, John Wilczynski, Scottsdale, AZ; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by sisters, Josephine Mokan, Clara Paskiewicz, Theresa Cody; brothers Edward, Tom, Dave Femc, and Philip Wilczynski.

The family would like to thank Allied Hospice for their kind and compassionate care.
