Pauline O. Franceski, 93, of Forest City, peacefully returned to her maker on Sunday morning with all of her children at her side.
Born September 14, 1917 in Forest City to Slovenian parents, the late Paul and Frances Prince, she was a graduate of Forest City High School and then went to Harrisburg where she worked as a secretary for the PA Department of Agriculture. In 1939 Pauline returned to Forest City to marry her husband of forty years, Benjamin A."Benny" Franceski. Together they brought three children into the world: Saundra, Gerald, and Bernard. Her beloved Benny died of cancer on August 8, 1980 when Pauline was 62 years of age. She then devoted her remaining years to her children and grandchildren whom she so dearly loved. Although she was more than willing to go to her maker, on Christmas Day 2009 she learned that she was going to have her first great grandchild. She quickly stated she wanted to stay a little longer. Lola Grace Franceski was born on July 30, 2010 and Pauline was elated.
Although her life was focused on family she did keep herself busy. She was a member of St. Joseph's Church, Forest City and the church choir for over 50 years. She was a member of the Slovenian Heritage Club and an active quilter well into her 80's. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Her fondest memories will always be family and friends.
She is survived by her three children Gerald B. Franceski and wife Kathleen, Uniondale; Saundra P. Florek and husband Robert, Tucson, AZ; and Bernard P Franceschi, Portland, OR.; a sister Josephine Gilroy, Endicott, NY; grandchildren, David B. Franceski, Uniondale; John P. and Erica Franceski, Hoboken, NJ; Michael D. Franceski, Litz, PA; Benjamin Franceschi and fiancé©e, Laura Fix, Boston, MA; Monique and Rebecca Franceschi, Portland, OR; Dominic Franceschi, Charleston, SC; and one great granddaughter Lola Grace Franceski, Hoboken, NJ.
She was preceded in death by sister Elva Prince, and brothers Robert, Donald and infant brother Paul Prince.
Her family extends a warm thank you to Dr. Patrick McAndrew and her caregivers at the Forest City Nursing and Personal Care Centers. Their warmth and kindness brightened her days.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to the St. Joseph's Church Renovation Fund, 612 Hudson Street, Forest City, PA 18421.
Funeral will be Thursday at 9:30 from the Kevin M. Lesjack Funeral Home, 513 Main Street, Forest City, with Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in St. Joseph's Church, Forest City. Interment in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Forest City. Viewing on Wednesday 5-8 pm.
