Paul “Butch” Benarick, 83, of Forest City, died Wednesday morning at Geisinger Community Medical Center. His wife of almost 15 years is Cynthia Ritchey Benarick, Forest City.
Born October 4, 1940, Paul was the son of the late Margaret Supancik Benarick and Paul Benarick. Paul was a 1958 graduate of Forest City High School, where he excelled at basketball and baseball. He also played for the Browndale softball team in his youth. A sports enthusiast, Paul was a fan of the Steelers, Yankees, and Celtics. He retired from the Dickson City Walmart after 22 years. He was a proud American and loved his country.
Also surviving are a daughter Paula Fitt and husband Aaron, NJ; a half brother Glen Benarick, SC; two step children Tracy Barnes and husband Joe, Hartford, and Jesse Thomas, Lake Ariel; two grandchildren Nathan and Julia; 3 step grandchildren Shawny, Dante, and Sierra; and six step great grandchildren, Dawson, Isabella, Mason, Colten, Adalynn, and Violet.
Funeral services will be Sunday at 3:00pm in the Kevin M. Lesjack Funeral Home, by Pastor Tim Madden. Viewing will be Sunday from 2pm until service time.
Memorial contributions can be made in Paul's memory to the Children's Miracle Network or Tunnel to Towers.
