Patricia Mellow

Patricia “Patti”, “Pat” Mellow completed her journey on Earth April 17, 2021, in the loving arms of her devoted wife of 29 years, Patricia McCabe .

Patti will be remembered for her kind, outgoing, loving personality. She doted on their cats, Franky, Piper, Heinz, Sweet Pea, Leo, Em, Calico, Faith, Nice Mommy & Gracie . There was not a kitten that she didn’t love. She was especially proud of her 3 sons, Kevin McCabe (Melinda), Pine Bush, NY; Dennis McCabe (Drea) Denver, CO; Jeff McCabe (Simone) Centreville, VA. She was Grandma Pat to her 4 grandchildren, Julianne McCabe, Colin McCabe, Sophia McCabe and Nicholas McCabe. They all brought an instant smile to her face. 

Pat was known for her beautiful big brown eyes, killer smile, incredibly sharp sense of humor and ability to make everyone feel special. You were blessed if you were in her company. She spent many summers living & working in her happy place, Provincetown, Cape Cod, Massachusetts with Pat. She loved the freedom there and walking the beaches. She loved going to Melissa Etheridge and Wailers concerts. Patti loved her Reggae music. She was an avid Yankee, Nittany Lion Penn State Football , WNBA fan. She loved gardening, being in the woods at Cottrell Lake with her family, collecting and selling antiques. She could be found at all the local auctions.

She cherished her friendships that go back to childhood friends on Delaware Street, as well as her University of Scranton friends. She graduated in 1978 from Forest City Regional High School where she was a star basketball player. She graduated from University of Scranton in 1982 with a bachelor’s degree in Human Services. She worked for 25 years at the Scranton State School for the Deaf . She loved the children in her charge, there. She and Pat had a place in Lark Mountain Marketplace in Wilkes-Barre where she sold antiques. She was extremely proud of her relationship with her Cousins from Italy and her Italian heritage.

We would like to express our appreciation for the compassionate care she got at the GEISINGER/CMC PCU and at Sacred Heart Hospice in Dunmore.

In lieu of flowers, Patti’s wishes were for donations instead, to Eastern PA Animal Alliance Low Cost Spay/Neuter Clinic at epaaonline.org. 

The youngest of 8 children of the late Fred & Kathryn Mellow, she was born March 29 , 1960.

She is survived by her wife , Patricia McCabe, Forest City; sisters Mary Bravo, AZ; Catherine White, Union Dale; brothers John Mellow and wife Linda, Pocono Lake; James Mellow and wife Melanie, Union Dale; Adrian Mellow and wife Jacque, GA; a sister-in-law, Jackie, GA; and numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

Also preceded in death by two brothers Fred Mellow and Dr. Thomas Mellow.

Cremation is through the Kevin M. Lesjack Funeral Home, 513 Main Street, Forest City.
