Max Weber Obituary

Max Dieter Weber, 89, of Panama City Beach, Florida, passed away on Tuesday, September 16, 2025.

He was born in Osterode, Germany on August 30, 1936 to Marianne and Curt Paul Weber. After World War II, his family legally immigrated to Kansas City, Missouri, where he graduated from Kansas City Junior College in 1956. He worked with his father to refurbish and create furniture in the Kansas City, Missouri area. He obtained a bachelor’s degree in Engineering Physics in 1961 and a master’s degree in Physics in 1965 from the University of Kansas. After graduating from the University of Kansas, he began working in April 1965 as a Physicist at the Naval Coastal Systems Center in Panama City Beach, FL He completed additional post-graduate studies in Sonar Engineering in 1966 at Penn State University. He married Elizabeth Ann Youshock in 1967, who he met at Penn State. From 1984 through 1985 he worked a one-year special assignment with the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. In February 10, 2002, was chrismated as an Orthodox Christian. He retired after 36 years of experience as a Physicist specializing in underseas warfare countermeasures. During his career he secured patents while conducting research.

He loved his family and his friends deeply. He was the best father that siblings could ask for and always did what he could to provide the best for his family. He was a Sailor at heart (loved sailing and the water) – He bought a Cape Dory sailboat that he and a close friend sailed from Tampa, FL to Panama City Beach, FL experiencing some gale conditions on the trip but made it safely. He was also a skilled furniture maker – he worked with his dad in Kansas City, helping his father refurbishing/produce furniture and kept these skills in place through his life. He enjoyed playing sports (especially Tennis and Basketball). Played basketball weekly with colleagues at the Navy Base. He also loved playing cards with a group of close friends. He would help anyone he could and was a very thoughtful and kind neighbor. Max also had a great sense of humor.

He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Weber and a son, Kurt Weber

He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Alexaundra Elizabeth Weber.

Funeral Service will be Friday September 26, 2025 at noon in the Kevin M. Lesjack Funeral Home, 513 Main Street, Forest City. Visitation will be from 11:00am until service time. Interment in Pleasant View Cemetery, Pleasant Mount.
