Marion T. Lupyak

Marion T. Lupyak, 88, Forest City, passed away at home on Monday. Born in Forest City, she was the daughter of Joseph and Mary (Adlis) Lupyak.

Marion was a graduate of Forest City High School. After high school, she attended the Scranton State Hospital School of Nursing where she became a Registered Nurse. After she completed her schooling she moved to the Bronx, NY where she proudly worked as a nurse for the Veterans Affairs Medical Center until her retirement in 1991. During her time in the Bronx she loved to shop and could always be found at her favorite store Gimbels. She would return home monthly to bring bags full of treasures to her niece and nephew. If there was one thing “Aunt Mern” will be remembered for it was her passion for shopping and generousity.

Upon retirement she returned to her hometown of Forest City to care for her mother and sister Helen. Once home, she continued her love of shopping by patronizing local businesses and would shop nightly on QVC while on the phone with her sister-in-law Goldy. If QVC has a Hall of Fame, Goldy and Marion would be elected on the first ballot.

Marion was an active member of St. Joseph’s Church in Forest City and never missed 4:00 P.M on mass on Saturday nights. She recently told her great niece Charlotte, she lived a full and successful life filled with family and friends, small towns and the big city, love and sorrow, and everything in between.

Marion is survived by brothers, Joseph, Fayetteville, NC, Richard, Carbondale, and sister Helen, Forest City. A niece Marion Yurgosky and husband Keith, Newton Lake, nephews Richard Neal Lupyak, Fayetteville, NC, Edward Lupyak, Truckee, CA, and several great nieces and nephews.

She was proceeded in death by sisters-in-law Goldy and Elizabeth (Betty) Lupyak.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday at 10:00 am in St. Joseph’s Church, Forest City, Forest City. As per Marion’s wishes there will be no calling hours and a private internment.
