Kathryn P. Smith

Kathryn P. Smith, 87, of Mountaintop, formerly of Forest City, died Sunday evening at Smith Health Care, Mountain Top. Her husband, John "Jack" Smith died in 1976.

Born in Forest City, she was the daughter of the late Sylvester and Anna Cleary Kane. Kathryn was a member of the Ascension Parish of Forest City. After graduation from high school she worked for the Department of the Navy in Philadelphia as a secretary. After the war she married Jack and raised six children while helping her husband in his various business ventures. She was a devoted wife and a loving mother and grandmother. A woman of quiet strength, she was deeply devoted to her Catholic faith. She greatly enjoyed spending her time reading novels. She will be greatly missed by her children and grandchildren and by all that knew her.

Surviving are her children, sons, John G. Smith, Jr. and wife Margaret of Sandy Hook, Connecticut; Attorney Paul E. Smith and wife Barbara of Vandling, PA; Mark S. Smith and wife Susan of Springville, PA; daughters, Dr. Patricia E. Smith Peel, widow, of Rapid City, NO; Kathryn S. and husband John Dombroski of Browndale, PA; and her caregiver, Ann Marie and husband Henry Majdic of Mountaintop, PA; numerous grandchildren and great-grand children.

She was preceded in death by seven brothers; Patrick, Thomas, Paul, John, James, Sylvester and Joseph; and two sisters Margaret Kane and Ann Kane Duffy.

Funeral will be Friday at 9:30 am from the Kevin M. Lesjack Funeral Home, 513 Main Street, Forest City, with Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in St. Joseph's Church, Forest City. Interment in St. John's Cemetery, Forest City.

Viewing on Thursday from 5-8 pm.
