Joyce Vallone, 81, of Browndale and formerly of Ringtown, passed away Thursday at her home. She was the wife of the late Frank Vallone. They were married for 42 years before his passing.
Born on July 6, 1945, in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Russell Waggoner and Lydia Montilla DeVecchis. Joyce was a graduate of the Philadelphia school system and worked as a supervisor at K-Mart until her retirement. She was a devoted member of Faith Tabernacle Church.
Joyce found joy in life's simple pleasures. She loved watching soap operas, especially Days of Our Lives, was a devoted Elvis fan, and enjoyed cooking for her family, with her rum cake becoming a favorite among those who knew her. She cherished time spent with her family and always looked forward to sharing lunch with friends.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Revolution Home Health & Hospice for the compassionate care and kindness shown to their mother.
Surviving are her two daughters, Dawn (John) Thomas of Browndale and Yvonne Vallone of Enola; her son, Joel (Jennifer) Vallone of Harrisburg; her siblings, Linda (Garret) Massa of Florida, Glenn DeVecchis of Georgia, Cindy (George) Neal of Indiana, and Phillip Waggoner of Kentucky; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Gene DeVecchis.
In accordance with her wishes, no services will be held. Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to the Kevin M. Lesjack Funeral Home, 513 Main Street, Forest City. A celebration of Joyce's life will be held at a later date.
