Welcome to the memorial page for

Joseph "Butch" Vozel

March 8, 1925

Joseph "Butch" Vozel, 90, of Browndale, died Sunday at the Forest City Nursing Center. Hie wife of 64 years is the former Marian Kuruts.

Born March 8, 1925 in Browndale, he is the son of the late Anthony and Mary Shivitz Vozel. He was a member of Ascension Parish. He served in the Army as a Military Policeman and was presently a member of the American Legion. He was a great patriot, shown by never missing one election in 63 years. Butch and his wife Mitz ran Butch's Bar for almost 60 years, where thousands of games of pinnochle, poker, and horse and pepper were played, and all the worlds problems solved, and oh, what a place it was! Some highlights of his life are Turning Stone, Mt. Airy and Mohegan Sun, Butch's Bowling Team and Butch's Golf Tournament, where he had a hole-in-one on number 7 at Elkview. And how could we forget Super Bowl XXV.

There is nothing Butch loved more than getting together with his family, country rides and going out for breakfast, no skins on the potatos. A heartfelt thanks to the entire staff of the Forest City Nursing Center, Dr. Bekele and his office, and all the prayers from family and friends.

Also surviving are daughters Donna Tedesco and husband Bob, Uniondale; Debbie Pierzga and husband John, Browndale; a sister Julie Kamin; granddughters Niki, Tara, Lindsay, and Allison, great grandson Braxton, "The Commander" and nieces and nephews. He loved them all dearly.

Also preceded in death by brothers William Vozel, Anthony "Stria" Vozel, John Nagoda and Ignatz Grablutz; and a sister Hanna Nagoda Glavich.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday at 10 am in St. Joseph's Church, Forest City. Viewing will be Wednesday from 4-7 pm in the Kevin M. Lesjack Funeral Home, 513 Main Street, Forest City and on Thursday from 9:30 am until mass time at the church. Interment in St. Agnes Cemetery, Forest City.
