John V. Mlinar, 85, of Forest City, died Monday afternoon at Marian Community Hospital, Carbondale. His wife of 55 years is Theresa Ciborowski Mlinar.
Born April 30, 1925, in Forest City, he is the son of the late Anton and Anna Mihelc Mlinar. He was a graduate of Vandling High School and Lincoln Technical School. John was a member of St. Joseph's Church, Forest City. He was an army veteran of WWII. John was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Linden, NJ and Forest City and was a member of the Forest City American Legion. He enjoyed golfing and woodworking, and he spent winters in Davie, Florida. He was a loving husband and father and will be missed by all who knew him.
Also surviving are two daughters, Susan Mlinar, Davie, FL, and Janice Mlinar, Poland, OH, several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother Anthony J. Mlinar and a sister Mary Ann Spoor.
Funeral will be Friday at 9:30am from the Kevin M. Lesjack Funeral Home, 513 Main Street, Forest City, with Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am in St. Joseph's Church, Forest City. Interment in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Forest City. Viewing Thursday from 5-8pm.
