John F. Majdic, 89, of Vandling, died Sunday evening at Wayne Memorial Hospital, Honesdale.
Born June 3, 1925, in Vandling, son of the late John and Pauline Kunovar Majdic. John was a 1943 graduate of Vandling High School, a member of St. Joseph's Church, now Ascension Parish, Forest City. John was a carpenter by trade belonging to the Carpenters Union Local 635. He was a member of the KSKJ and the Slovenian Heritage Club. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing and was a member of the Browndale Sportsmens Club.
Surviving is a brother, Henry "Hank" Majdic and wife Ann, Vandling and five nephews, James, John and Henry Majdic and John and Robert Petronchak.
Also preceded in death by a sister Mary Petronchak, and nephews Gerald Majdic and William Petronchak.
The funeral will be Thursday at 10:00 am from the Kevin M. Lesjack Funeral Home, 513 Main St., Forest City, with Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am in St. Joseph's Church, Forest City. Interment in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday from 4-7 pm.
