John L. Foster, 72, of Union Dale, passed away peacefully at his family farm on October 12, 2025. He was the beloved husband of Donna Marie (Murphy) Foster.
Born December 23, 1952, in Carbondale, to the late Arnold and Elizabeth (Wilson) Foster, John was a graduate of Mt. View High School and a skilled carpenter by trade. An avid outdoorsman, he loved hunting, fishing, and trap shooting, and was proud to serve as a past president of the Stoney Mountain Hunting Club. He also enjoyed golfing, playing volleyball, and shooting pool.
John was well known for running the “Nail Game” for many years at the Union Dale Picnic. Above all, he cherished time spent with his family.
He is survived by his daughter, Holly Benedict and her husband Jeremy; his brother, David Foster; his twin sister, Laura Butts and her husband James; and his grandson, Jakob Benedict. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A special thank-you goes to Billy Branning for his devoted care and support.

The family would like to thank the staff of Allied Hospice, especially Joanna, Kerri, Chris, Joyce, Natalie, and Samantha for the compassionate care that was given to John.
