James P. McAndrew

James P. McAndrew, 69, of Vandling, died Friday afternoon at Geisinger Community Medical Center, Scranton after a long illness. His wife, Susan Kmetz McAndrew died in 2011.

Born September 16, 1944 in New Jersey, he was the son of the late Thomas and Mary Golden McAndrew. He was named after his uncle, who served and died in France during WWI. Jim was educated at Irvington High School, Irvington, NJ. He served in Germany with the Army Signal Corp during the Vietnam War. Prior to retirement he was employed for over 20 years by Forest City Regional High School in the Maintenance Department. He was a very talented poet and singer, and was always happy to share a tune. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by a son, Sean McAndrew, Vandling and a daughter Kelly McAndrew, Vandling. Three grandchildren, Finnegan, Max, and Shane; a brother Tom McAndrew, FL; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother Michael.

Cremation was through the Kevin M. Lesjack Funeral Home, 513 Main St., Forest City, PA 18421.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Memorial contributions can be made to the funeral home to assist the family with funeral expenses.
