James F. Marsicano, 86, of Forest City died Monday at Geisinger Community Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. His wife of 63 years is the former Helen Wysocki.
Born April 19, 1935, in Manville, NJ, he was the son of the late James and Agnes Finc Marsicano. He was raised in Vandling by his godparents, the late Frank and Mary Finc Bosh. He was a member of the last graduating class of Vandling High School, 1953. He attended the University of Scranton and graduated from Scranton-Lackawanna College in 1957 with a degree in accounting. Jim was an Army veteran.
He was a charter and 47 year member of the Forest City Area Emergency Services. He was a 42 year member of the Forest City Lions Club, serving as president in 1977-78. He also served as its treasurer for 23 years and was a Melvin Jones Fellowship Award recipient. In Jim's early years, he was a little league coach and Webelos leader. He and his wife were 2008 Forest City Distinguished Citizens. Prior to retirement from Cross Mfg., he worked at Anemostat, Gentex, and R.C.A.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, James, John, and Michael; four grandchildren, James and wife Kelly, Jason, Nicole, and Sarah; two great grandchildren, Casey and Riley Mae; a brother Frank Marsicano; nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, November 20, 2021, at 10am in Ascension Parish at St. Joseph's Church, 739 Delaware Street, Forest City. Interment in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Viewing will be Friday from 4 to 7pm and Saturday from 9 to 9:30am in the Kevin M. Lesjack Funeral Home, 513 Main Street, Forest City.
