Helen M. Zedar, 92, of Forest City, passed away Thursday morning at Ellen Memorial Rehab and Healthcare Center. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Anthony Zedar, who died in 1996.
Born on May 22, 1934, in Carbondale, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Mary (Scepita) Gier. A 1952 graduate of Benjamin Franklin High School, Helen was a talented seamstress who worked for several local garment factories throughout her career. She was a devoted member of Ascension Parish.
In her free time, Helen enjoyed crocheting, sewing, bowling, and golfing. Known for her generosity and skill, she mended clothing for countless family members, friends, and neighbors. Above all, she was fiercely devoted to her family and treasured the time she spent with them.
The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Ellen Memorial for the compassionate care given to their mother.
Surviving are her son, Anthony Zedar of Eynon; her daughter, Marianne Korty and husband, Dennis, of Union Dale; her brother, Andrew Gier of Allentown; her grandchildren, Tony Zedar and wife, Natalie, Scott Zedar and companion, Lori Leputa, Mary Ellen Call and husband, Justin, and Daniel Burke and husband, Bradley; her great-grandchildren, Lincoln, Jacob, and Dylan; as well as several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her brother, Adam Lucko, and her daughter-in-law, Sharon Zedar.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, June 26, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. in St. Joseph's Church, Delaware Street, Forest City. Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass at the church. Interment will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to the Kevin M. Lesjack Funeral Home, 513 Main Street, Forest City.
