Frank O'Peka, 89, of Forest City, died Friday afternoon at VNA hospice, Scranton. His wife is the former Josephine "Joan" Swedersky, they were married for 66 years.
Born February 4, 1927, in Vandling, son of the late Frank C. and Albina Chodorowsky O'Peka. After graduating high school, Frank attended classes at the University of Scranton and graduated from Williamsport Institute of Technology where he studied engineering. He was previously employed by Link Aviation and Schlumberger-Weston as an engineer manager. Frank was member of Ascension Parish, the American Legion, and the Forest City Lions Club. He served on the first zoning board in Forest City and was a member of the Browndale Sportsman Club. He enjoyed watching football and baseball on TV and reading his newspapers.
Also surviving are a daughter Janet Veltri and husband Peter, Dalton; two sons, Frank O'Peka and wife Cindy, CA; Mark O'Peka, AZ; 2 granddaughters Elizabeth and Bernadette; 2 brothers John O'Peka and Tom O'Peka; nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday at 10 am in St. Joseph's Church, Forest City. Viewing will be Wednesday morning 9:30 am until mass time at the church. Interment in St. Anthony's Cemetery, Forest City. Arrangements by the Kevin M. Lesjack Funeral Home, 513 Main Street, Forest City.
