Francis Paluch, 70, of Pleasant Mount, died Tuesday morning at the Forest City Nursing Center after a long battle with cancer.
Born May 28, 1945, a lifelong resident of Pleasant Mount, he is the son of the late Michael and Helen Seney Paluch. He graduated from Hancock Central High School and was a member of St. James Church, Pleasant Mount. Francis started his career with the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation in 1972 and retired after 35 years of service. Prior to that he worked for Camp Milling Feed, Poyntelle and Sienko Inc. Francis was a loyal member of the Lake Como Lions Club and transferred to the Forest City Lions Club with 40 years of service in total. He held the office's of Regional Chair and District Governor, and received several awards and recognitions over those years. He was a fan of NASCAR and Dale Earnhardt. Mechanically inclined, he enjoyed working on anything that needed repair, particularly the various equipment and vehicles on the family farm. Francis was known for his generosity, big heart, friendly smile, wit, and wisdom, and will be sorely missed.
Surviving are a sister Beverly Harvatine and husband Frank, Cleona; three brothers Michael, Forest City; Joseph and wife Cathy, Giddings, TX; and Tommy, Fort Myers Beach, FL; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and "Lola".
The family would like to thank the Forest City Nursing Center for their devotion to Francis' care. Knowing most of the staff, along with the attention they gave him, kept up his spirits and feistiness right to the end.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday at 10 am in St. James Church, Pleasant Mount. Viewing will be Thursday from 4-7 pm in the Kevin M. Lesjack Funeral Home, 513 Main Street, Forest City. Interment in St. James Cemetery. Bring a story or fond memory of Francis.
