Frances Vauter, 102, formerly of Forest City, died Saturday morning at Family Hospice and Palliative Care, Pittsburgh. She was the beloved wife of the late Anthony Vauter, who founded the Clover Farm Dairy and Humdinger Ice Cream store in Forest City.
Born January 27, 1916, in Browndale, daughter of the late Frank and Mary Cercek Skube. Frances grew up in Browndale and then lived in Forest City until 2002, when she moved to Pittsburgh to be with her daughters. She loved to sew and crochet and was well known for her many quilts and afghans, as well as the many colorful dresses she created and donated to a Spiritan orphanage in Ethiopia. She also enjoyed many family get-togethers and outings, holiday celebrations, crafting with her circle of friends, and doing jigsaw puzzles, many of which she framed for her friends and family.
Her family is grateful for the excellent care and friendship Frances received at Marian Manor Personal Care, Greentree, where she lived for the past two years and at Family Hospice and Palliative Care, Mt. Lebanon.
She is survived by two daughters, Frances Tarkett and husband Joseph, and Barbara Vauter; a daughter in law Irene Vauter; six grandchildren, Marlene Elster and husband David, Robert Vauter and wife Christina, Leslie Moczulski and husband Gary, Laura Blumberg and husband Victor, Lisa Reed and husband Marc, and Donna Tarkett; nine great grandchildren Candice Vauter, Robert Vauter, Tyler and Jordan Moczulski, Joseph Reed, Amber, Erin, and Adam Neszpaul and James Shannon-Tarkett, three great great grandchildren Alexia and Dominic Purdy and Gabriel Vauter.
Also preceded in death by a son Robert Vauter.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday at 10am in St. Joseph's Church, Forest City. Interment in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Arrangements are through the Kevin M. Lesjack Funeral Home, Forest City.
