Ellen Marie (Durbin) Masankay

Ellen Marie Masankay, 74, of Union Dale, died Thursday evening at home. Her husband, Dr. Manuel G. Masankay, passed away in 2024.

Born October 26, 1951, in Carbondale, she was the daughter of the late John and Ellen (Woodyshek) Durbin. Ellen was a member of Ascension Parish in Forest City. Prior to her retirement, she was employed by Red Cross Pharmacy and Scentique Limited.

Ellen enjoyed crafting and was always creating something with her hands. Above all, she cherished time spent with her grandchildren, which brought her the greatest joy.

She is survived by her daughters, Maria Masankay of Union Dale and Melissa Daniels and her husband Rick of Waymart; her sons, Manny Masankay of Florida and Matthew Masankay of Union Dale; a brother, Michael Durbin of Texas; seven grandchildren, Manuel Michael Jr., Kylie, Riley, Ashley, Ava, Addison, and Ainsley; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, John Durbin Jr., and a great-granddaughter.

In accordance with Ellen’s wishes, no services will be held. Cremation arrangements are entrusted to the Kevin M. Lesjack Funeral Home, 513 Main Street, Forest City.
