Edward J. Lauriha, Sr., 89, of Spring Hill, FL and formerly of Forest City, passed away Thursday January 7, 2021 at Oak Hill Hospital, Brooksville, FL from Covid-19 related illness.
Born November 29, 1931, in Carbondale, He was the son of the late Victor and Frances Novak Lauriha. A native of Forest City, PA, he served in the U. S. Navy before obtaining a B. S. & M.S in Education/Supervision. He went on to be an Elementary School Principal in Avoca, NY before retiring to Spring Hill, FL, where he continued to teach for many more years.
Mr. Lauriha was a devout Lay Carmelite and an active member of St. Francis Cabrini Parish in Spring Hill. He volunteered much of his time at the Parish lectoring masses, teaching and mentoring. He loved watching old movies, playing guitar, traveling and reading. Edward dedicated his life to the service of others.
He is survived by his children, Jacquelyn A. McGillicuddy, Mark S. Lauriha, and Lynne M. Spike, seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild
He was predeceased by his first wife, Verna M. Lauriha (Terchek), the mother of his children, and his second wife, Helen M. Lauriha; son Edward J. Lauriha, Jr.; siblings, Frances Skubic, Victor Lauriha, Jr., August Lauriha, George Lauriha, Gabriel Lauriha, Raymond Lauriha, Elsie Terchek, Loretta Tomazic, David Lavriha and Donald Lauriha.

Cremation is through the Kevin M. Lesjack Funeral Home, 513 Main Street, Forest City. Mass and burial will be at a later date.
