Dorothy Leah Schaefer

Dorothy Leah Schaefer, 93, of Honesdale, died Saturday afternoon at home. She is the widow of the late Charles Schaefer who died in 1973.

Born March 31, 1916 in Jersey City, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Mary Bowman Ertle. She was a graduate of Dickenson High School, Jersey City and a member of St. Cecelia's Church and it's Altar and Rosary Society, Pleasant Mount. Prior to retirement, Dorothy was the secretary at the Forest City Regional High School. She was an avid reader and she enjoyed knitting. She was a loving mother and grandmother and will be missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by two sons Charles, Honesdale and Andrew and wife Karen Binghamton, NY; five grandchildren Mary Beth, Charlie, Emily, Andrew, and Stephanie.

She was preceded in death by a brother Joseph.

Funeral will be Wednesday at 9:30 am from the Kevin M. Lesjack Funeral Home, 513 Main Street, Forest City, with Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in St. James Church, Pleasant Mount. Cremation will follow. Interment in St. Cecelia's Cemetery, Pleasant Mount.

Viewing Tuesday from 5-8 pm.

Memorial contributions can be made in Dorothy's name to the donors favorite charity.
