Dorothy A. Gordon of Barnegat, NJ died on October 12, 2020 at the age of 97 and 1/2. She was born in Union Dale, PA on April 13, 1923.
She was the daughter of the late Frank and Anna Novak Verboys. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert Murtha and second husband Willard P. Gordon.
She was also preceded in death by four sisters, Frances Matircho, Theresa Hoholick, Tillie Parkinson and Johanna (infant); four brothers, Frank, Anthony, Ludwig (MIA in WWII), and Henry Verboys.
Dorothy was a graduate of Forest City High School, class of 1940. Was employed and retired after 30 years from Towne Labratories, Somerville, NJ. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary 524 of Forest City. During WWII, she was one of the “Rosie the Riveters.” She helped make fighter planes, the FM Wildcat and the F4F Wildcat, at General Motors Eastern Aircraft in 1943.
Dorothy was a devout member of the Lutheran Church of Holy Spirit in Manahawkin, NJ. She enjoyed reading, cooking, sewing, gardening, painting and spending time with her family.
Although Aunt Dot had no children of her own, she thought of her many surviving nieces and nephews as her own.
Surviving her are niece and neighbor, Dorothy M. (Matircho) Flynn, niece and companion Shirley A (Matircho) Campbell, and many other nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. She was an inspiration to her whole family and will be greatly missed.
A private burial was held on Saturday November 6, 2021 at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Forest City.

Local arrangements were entrusted to the Kevin M. Lesjack Funeral Home, 513 Main Street, Forest City.
