Dorothy "Toots" Gantar, 82, of Forest City, died Thursday morning at VNA Hospice at Geisinger CMC, Scranton. Her husband Paul Gantar died in 1994.
Born December 11, 1932, in Forest City, daughter of the late Stephen and Mary Tursic Selinsky, She was member of St. Joseph's Church and Ascension Parish of Forest City. She was a memeber of the Slovenian Heritage Club and the KSKJ. She was a long time member of the Forest City Area Volunteer Ambulance and she received an award for voting in every election for 50 years.
Surviving are three daughters Paula Gantar, Forest City; Donna Gantar, Wayne; and Susan Gantar Hall, NC; brothers Joseph Selinsky, AZ; and Robert Selinsky, Olyphant; sisters Jeanne Wallace, Simpson; Margaret Slick, WA; Maryann Logar, Browndale; Elizabeth Danowski, OH; and Bernadine Cooper, MA; 2 grandchildren Alex and Samantha; nieces and nephews.
Also preceded in death by a brother Paul and a sister Geraldine.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday at 10:30 am in St. Joseph's Church, Forest City. Interment in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Visitation at the church from 9:30 am until Mass time. In Lieu of Flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Dorothy's name to the Forest City Area Emergency Services.
