David Evan Homisak, 94, formerly of Forest City and Mt. Cobb, died March 28th at the Gino Merli Veterans Center surrounded by his family.
Born January 17, 1931 in Forest City, he is the son of the late Evan (John) and Anna Puchuta Homisak. He was a graduate of the Forest City School system. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the United States Navy and was a veteran of the Korean War. After an honorable discharge, he moved back to Forest City and married his first wife, Helen Kiselica of Browndale. Together they raised five children. After Helen's death in 1978, he married Carol Glucksnis of Mt. Cobb and helped her raise her four sons.
During the late 1950's, he took his only job at Daystrom Inc, later to become Lockheed Martin. He worked his way up from being a machinist to becoming one of their top design engineers. After his retirement he and Carol raised award winning orchids, practicing Tai-Chi, and traveling the US including the National Parks.
He was a member of the Forest City Planning Commission, where he was instrumental in the planning and development of Kennedy Park. He was a member of the Forest City Borough Council and for a time its president.
His two passions in life were his family and music. He was an excellent singer and belonged to many area choirs, including St. John's Choir in Forest City, St. Cyril's Choir in Olyphant, and most notably Pat Marcinko's Ecumen Chorale. He loved all generes of music, from Russian Choral music to classical to country from blues to rock. But guitarists held a special place in his heart, having seen Eric Clapton multiple times in concert.
He was a very open minded individual and very supportive of his children's endeavors. He was an absolutely wonderful father and most certainly will be missed by all those who knew and loved him. He was a loving force in all his adopted grandchildren's lives.
He is survived by his second wife Carol; step sons David (Melanie) Glucksnis, Mt. Cobb and their daughter Natalie; Daniel (Kristen) Glucksnis, Mt. Cobb and their son Cole and daughters Aubry and Alina; and Joe (Missi) Glucksnis, Lake Ariel and their son Mason; His daughter Rosemary Homisak; and sons Matthew Homisak and David (JoAnn) Homisak; all of Forest City; extended family Ian (Donna) Vannan, Clarks Summit and their children Scarlet and Floyd; and Keith (Karina) Vannan, Albrightsville and their children Grace, Joey, and Alissa; cousins, nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife Helen; two sons Mark and Michael; a stepson Paul Glucksnis; five brothers Frederick, Thomas, Michael, John, and Joseph; a sister Evelyn Pitz.
