Colleen Fitzsimmons

Colleen Fitzsimmons, 62, of Forest City, passed away peacefully on Thursday evening, December 18, 2025 at Ellen Memorial Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Honesdale.

Born November 24, 1963, in Carbondale, she was the daughter of Ruth Ann (Zedar) Fitzsimmons, MD, and the late Robert Fitzsimmons. Colleen was a graduate of Forest City Regional High School and Luzerne County Community College. She was a registered nurse who dedicated her career to caring for others, working at doctors’ offices, hospitals and the Forest City Nursing Home.

A member of Ascension Parish, Colleen enjoyed shopping, walking her dogs, and spending time with her family. She was a devoted animal lover whose kindness extended to both people and pets.

The Family would like to thank the staff at Ellen Memorial for taking great care of Colleen and Hospice of The Sacred Heart for making her comfortable in her final days.

She is survived by her two sons, Ryan Fitzsimmons of Dunmore and Kevin Fitzsimmons of Reading; a brother, Robert Fitzsimmons, Forest City; a sister, Erin Fitzsimmons, MD; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Cremation arrangements are entrusted to the Kevin M. Lesjack Funeral Home, 513 Main Street, Forest City. A graveside service will be held at St. Agnes Cemetery in the spring.
