Clara Kalinowski, 97, of Forest City, died Tuesday afternoon at the Carbondale nursing and Rehab Center. Her husband of 30 years is the late John Kalinowski.
Born June 21, 1925, in Forest City, she is the daughter of the late Ignatz and Jennie Koncan Oven. Clara was a member of Ascension Parish, Forest City. She was a 1944 graduate of Forest City School and was a sewing machine operator prior to retirement. She enjoyed watching basketball and baseball and liked to visit the casino.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Carbondale Nursing and Rehab Center for their kind and compassionate care given to Clara.
She is survived by a sister Margaret Oven, Forest City; nieces Diana Seminerio and husband Phil; and Veronica Schell and husband Bob; a nephew Joseph Oven and wife JoAnn; great nieces and nephews, Joseph, Sarah, Abby, Matthew, Tyler and Alex.
She was preceded in death by sisters, infant Martha Oven, Emma Shamro, Jennie Oven, and Veronica Kotar; and a brother Joseph Oven.
A viewing will be held Sunday from 5 – 7 pm in the Kevin Lesjack Funeral Home, 513 Main Street, Forest City. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday at 10:00 am at St. Joseph’s Church, Delaware Street, Forest City. Interment in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Forest City.
