Obituary

Nip Foster passed away peacefully in the bedroom he was born in on his family farm on March 19, 2023.

Charles was the son the late Arnold and Elizabeth Foster. After completing high school, Charles went on the serve in the United State Navy and retired from naval service in 1977. Charles was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, the China Service Medal, and the National Defense Medal with Bronze Star during his naval career. Upon retirement from the military, Charles entered a career in law enforcement. Eventually, Nip retired from law enforcement and moved back to the family farm to help care for his mother.

Nip was well traveled, well read, and the best storyteller. If you knew Nip, you know some of his legendary tales, and you understand his adventurous spirit. Nip was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was also an amazing cook and loved playing cards. Nip was the kind of person that would give you the shirt off his back and never ask for anything in return. Most of all, Nip was a good son, good brother, good father, good uncle and a good friend. Nip loved his family and spent the last years of his life dedicated to preserving the legacy of his family farm for future generations. There really are no words to describe what Nip means to his family and friends. He was the kind of man in which it was an honor to know.

Charles is survived by siblings, Lynna Obelenus; David Foster; Duane Foster(Mary Ann); John Foster(Donna); Laura Butts(James); stepson, Neal Vierra; numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.

He was also preceded in death by siblings, infant brother, Brian Foster, Neil Foster, Douglas Foster, Karen (Foster) Giddings and Rachel (Foster) Branning, Richard "Dick" Foster, and lrena (Gaile) Durko.

The family would like to express its gratitude to the Wayne Memorial Hospice staff and Dr. Cruse. A special note of gratitude is expressed to Charlene. Charlene, you are one of the angels that walked around Charles.

A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday March 25 from 10 to 11am followed by a memorial service at 11 in the Kevin M. Lesjack Funeral Home, 513 Main Street, Forest City.
