Bernard "Bernie" Swetter, 87, of Clifford Township, died Saturday morning at home. His wife is the former Julia Hoholick. They were married for 53 years.
Born August 17, 1921, in Forest City, he was the son of the late John and Sophie Leekovich Swetter, He attended Hoover School in Clifford in his youth, he was a member of St. Joseph's Church, Forest City, and he was a WWII Army Veteran. Bernie was a farmer for all his life and he also worked at the pro-shop at Elkview Country Club and as a lift operator at Elk Mountain. He was a gifted handyman and could fix anything. He was a loving husband and father and will be greatly missed.
Also surviving is a daughter Donna Spainhour and husband Stephen, Richmond, VA and two grand children Erin and Michael, several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by 4 brothers Frank, Joe, Phillip, and Paul, and two sisters Mary Opeka and Josie Verboys.
Funeral will be Tuesday at 9:30 am from the Kevin M. Lesjack Funeral Home, 513 Main Street, Forest City, with Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am from St. Joseph's Church, Forest City. Interment in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Forest City.
