Bernadette Slick, 94, of Forest City, died Tuesday evening at Allied Hospice, Scranton.

Born in Forest City, daughter of the late Cletus and Thelma Ryearson Doolittle. Graduate of Forest City High School class of 1942 and graduate of the Realtor's Institute. She was a Realtor-Broker of Bernadette Slick Real Estate Agency, and a member of the Scranton Board of Realtors. She retired in 1988 after 23 years in business.

Bernadette was the author of a book called “A Century in America”, an American Saga, published in 1995 with the commemmoration of the Forest City Mine Memorial. Also, published “The Slick Family History” - (1892-1992). She completed family histories for Doolittle-Doyle, Rynearson-States and the Kersavage family. Copies are in the Forest City Historical Society.

Bernadette also published three other books, 2006, entitled: “Weeding Carrots” (Lost Art of the Small Farm), “Grandma Collects Stones”, and “Grandma Reflects on Life”.

Surviving are a son Joseph E. Slick and his wife Reyna, Forest City; two sisters Dolores Carra, Browndale; and Thelma Wright, Elkins Park; two brothers, Arthur Doolittle, Kingsley; and James Doolittle, Newfield, NY; five grandsons, William A Slick, III, Union Dale; Edward J. Slick, Herrick Center; Jerome Slick, Great Bend; Anthony Slick, Forest City; and Joseph Slick, Jr., Forest City; granddaughter Cheryl Lynn Slick Dragnett, Forest City; great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two husbands, William Slick in 1974 and Edward Slick in 1998, a daughter Bernadette in 1946 and two sons, William Slick, Jr. in 1997 and an infant Cletus Nelson Slick in 1963. Also two brothers, Cletus “Buddy” in 1937 and William “Joe” Doolittle in 1999; a siste Julie Ann Tomazin in 2015.

Bernadette was an ardent collector of gems and minerals, designer of beautiful flower gardens and ornamental displays in her yard. She loved real estate and enjoyed the challenge of restoring old homes in the Forest City area.

Funeral Service will be Saturday from the Kevin M. Lesjack Funeral Home, 513 Main Street, Forest City with a Blessing Service at 10:30 am in the funeral home. Interment in St. Agnes Cemetery. Viewing will be Friday from 5 to 7 pm
