Ben L. Heckman, Sr., 73, of Simpson, died Monday at his home. His wife is the former Joy D. Guinther.
Born in Ashland, Ben was the son of the late Lincoln and Viola (Burmeister) Heckman. He was a graduate of North Schuylkill High School and prior to retirement worked for Merck Pharmaceutical Cherokee Plant in Danville and his family business, Heckman's TV Service. He enjoyed sailing and woodworking. He was a devoted servant to his faith, family and community. In his retirement he enjoyed spinning wool for his wife. He was affectionately known as “Pappy” to his grand kids.
Ben is also survived by his children Ben Heckman, II and partner Jonathan Needham; Stephanie Kohler and husband James, Jr.; and Abigail Toolan and husband Shane, Jr.; grandchildren Joshua, Jacob, Caleb, & Gavin Heckman, Elise Berube and husband Benjamin, Lukas Kohler, Shannon and Shane Toolan; cousins, nieces and nephews and his golden-doodle, Nova.
Funeral service in Carbondale will be Monday at 11:00am in the Berean Baptist Church, 33 Lincoln Ave, Carbondale. Visitation from 10 until service time. Memorial Contributions can be made to the Berean Baptist Church.
Funeral services in Ashland will be Tuesday at 11:00am in the Bethany E.C. Church, 15 N 13th St, Ashland. Visitation from 10 until service time. Memorial Contributions can be made to the Bethany E.C. Church, Ashland.
