Barbara J. Puchnick, 94, of Forest City died suddenly, Monday evening at Wayne Memorial Hospital, Honesdale.
Born August 17, 1928 in Forest City, she was the daughter of the late Louis and Mary Malakar Puchnick.
Born and raised in Forest City, Ms. Puchnick graduated from Forest City High School in 1946. She relocated in Washington DC and worked for several years for the US government before retiring in 1985. After retiring, she moved from Washington DC, back to Forest City where she lived for the remainder of her years. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, canning, swimming, traveling, and reading. She was a member of Ascension Parish. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society, Rail-Trail Council of NEPA, and the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary.
Barbara is survived by her brother Louis Puchnick Jr., Butler PA, her niece Karen Puchnick of Butler, PA, and her nephews William Puchnick of Pittsburgh, PA, and David (Jacqueline) Puchnick, Butler, PA, and great-nephews Matthew and Luke Puchnick, Butler Pa.
She also preceded in death by her two sisters Marie Puchnick and Kathleen Puchnick and a sister-in-law Helen Puchnick.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by Kevin M. Lesjack Funeral Home, 513 Main Street, Forest City. Per her request, there will be no viewing. A private mass will be held.
