Barbara Rita (Villar) Glenwright

Barbara Rita (Villar) Glenwright, 85, formerly of Browndale, PA died Monday, September 4, 2023 at St. Francis Hospice in Melbourne, FL surrounded by her family. She was married to her late beloved husband, Robert T. Glenwright for 58 years.

Born October 6, 1937 in Buffalo, NY she and her late sister Lolita, were raised in Minersville, PA by their late mother Lucy (Bowers) Villar. Barbara graduated from Minersville High School where she played basketball and cheerleading.

On September 12, 1959 she married Robert. Together they had five children. She worked many years for Bell Telephone of PA (Verizon) in Harrisburg and Philadelphia where she retired. Barbara loved sports and was active in developing and coaching the first girl’s soccer team at Parkwood Youth Organization in Philadelphia. She was active in her church and was a mentor for many girls as part of the Pioneer Girls at the Third Reformed Presbyterian Church in Philadelphia. After retirement she worked part-time at the Forest City Personal Care, and enjoyed traveling, trips to the casino, shopping, and spending time with her grandchildren. She would always welcome you with a smile, “What’s cooking” greeting and an optimistic perspective.

Surviving her are daughters Linda and husband Samuel Long; Susan and husband Joseph Waters; Karen Glenwright; and Lori Glenwright; a son David Glenwright and wife Lisa; thirteen grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.

Memorial visitation with services will be Saturday, October 14, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM in the Kevin M. Lesjack Funeral Home, 513 Main Street, Forest City, PA 18421.
