Anthony F. Blodnikar, 94, formerly of Clifford Twp, died Tuesday evening at the Geno J. Merli Veterans' Center, Scranton.
Born June 3, 1919, in Vandling, he was the son of the late Frank and Anna Kepic Blodnikar. Raised in Wayne County, Anthony attended a one room school in Pleasant Mount. He was drafted at the age of 20 into the army durring WWII where he received two Purple Hearts, 2 Bronze Stars, and a Combat Infantry Badge. He was chosen to represent PA veterans at the opening of the WWII Memorial in Washington, D.C. Anthony wore many hats prior to retirement. He worked on the rail road, in a factory, as a carpenter, raised cattle, and 10 years for Clifford Twp. He was a member of the DAV, VFW and American Legion, and the Slovenian Heritage Club. He was lifetime member of St. Joseph's Church and Ascension Parish of Forest City and he will be missed by all who knew him.
Survivng is a son Anthony J. Blodnikar and wife Jeanne, Lennoxville; two daughters, Barbara Kilhullen and husband Timmothy, Forest City; and Karen Dulski and husband Richard, Clifford Twp.; a sister Jennie Baileys, Forest City; a brother John Blodnikar, Browndale; 8 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Helen Gamble; his second wife Mary Dulski; a granddaughter Kendel; brothers Frank and Albert, and sisters Angeline Bedene, Mary Beautz, and baby Annie.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday at 11 am in St. Joseph's Church, Forest City. Interment in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Viewing at St. Joseph's Church from 9 - 11 am.
